How do I export a TCX file from Garmin Connect

How do I update my Garmin Nevi 55 :- This page is as much for me as it is for you.  It’s effectively my little list of tools and apps that can be used to fix, convert, export, tweak, or otherwise modify what are typically completed activity files/workouts.  I’ve also added in a few other related things like where to find older firmware versions, etc.

At this point I’m not using this list as a place for a listing of apps Rather, think of this as a toolbox, and these are things that you may find useful if you were at your workbench.  Make sense?  Enjoy!

To export from Garmin Connect™, first make sure you have uploaded the file into Garmin Connect™.

  1. Navigate to Activities by clicking on the Menu icon
  2. In the Activity List screen, click on the Activity to be exported
  3. Once the Activity is pulled up, click on the Gear icon
  4. Under the Gear icon, select Export Original

If you export a TAX file from Garmin Connect itself the following section is used:

      <Creator xsi:type="Device_t">
        <Name>fen-ix 3</Name>
        <Unit Id>3910591682</Unit Id>
        <Product Id>2050</Product Id>
        <Version>
          <Version-Major>8</Version-Major>
          <Version-minor>8</Version-Minor>
          <Build-Major>0</Build-Major>
          <Build-Minor>0</Build-Minor>
        </Version>
      </Creator>
I tried simply adding the xsi:type and <Version> to the file exported by Golden Cheetah but that did not help either. Right now the only solution I know of is to go in and delete the full <Creator> entry manually, which is a shame.

BTW .FIT files don't import into Garmin Connect either (I don't know why) so doing a TAX export and removing <Creator> is the only way to go from Golden Cheetah to Garmin Connect that I know of.
These tools help you migrate from one platform to another.  For example, if you previously had a Garmin device and then wanted to move to the Surmount platform.  Note that many of the ‘Sync’ tools in the section up a bit higher can also be used for this same purpose.
As any route is only as good as the sights it takes you by, the komoot app for iOS and Android lets you fully adjust your Tour on the go. Just head to the app, replan on your smartphone and see the new route on your Garmin—whenever you’re in the mood for a detour.

Seamlessly Sync with your Garmin Device
To get you on the right track as quickly as possible, all it takes is a few clicks to seamlessly sync komoot with your Garmin device. Two simple steps and you’re done: You’re officially up and running. Or riding. Or whatever activity you use your Garmin for.
